Guide to SISU

 Board
- Cafeteria in Hongkou Campus: There’s a cafeteria on either the first floor or the second floor. With a meal card or meal coupon, student can choose whatever he wants. Meal card is available to get on the first floor. Show student ID.
- SISU Guesthouse, SISU Hotel, Foreign Experts’ Building: Each has a restaurant.
- Cafeteria in Songjiang Campus: Student can choose whatever he wants with a meal card.
- There’re all sorts of restaurants nearby SISU’s campus.

 Postal service
- SISU Guesthouse, SISU Hotel, Foreign Experts’ Building: Mail can be picked up daily at the reception. If student has a package (box, Fedex bulk envelope or registered letter), there will be a slip for him. He needs to take the slip along with his student ID to the mailroom at the university main gate to pick up his package. However, the mailroom usually does not have his box but has the shipping note for it. In that case, he will have to take the note and his passport to the post office, located at 65 Guang Zhong Road, to get his box.
- Off-campus Residence:Mail shall be delivered to student’s post box at home. If student has a package, there will be shipping note for it. In that case, he will have to take the note and his passport to the local post office to get his box.
- Postage varies according to how much a mail weighs. Get stamps at the post office.

It is highly recommended that you always have your mail weighed at the post office to make sure the exact amount of postage you have to pay.

 Shopping
There are two supermarkets (Carrefour and Emart) within a walking distance to Hongkou Campus. Carrefour is located at 560 Quyang Road and Emart at 800 Quyang Road.  Articles of everyday use and a big variety of food are available there.

 Banking
There is an ATM in the lobby of the SISU Guesthouse. Foreign currencies in cash or traveler’s checks may be changed into Chinese RMB at the reception of the SISU Guesthouse.
The nearest Industrial and Commercial Bank of China is right beside the main gate of Hongkou Campus. Its address is 566 Dalian Road (W).
There’re two Bank of China nearby Hongkou Campus. One is at 268 Yutian Road, just beside the Carrefour, and the other is on the first floor of Jialan Building, 2259 Sichuan Road (N.), beside the main gate of Luxun Park (See the map of SISU neighborhood; taxi as transportation tool is recommended). It provides diverse services. It is encouraged that student always goes to a big Bank of China, as other banks might not operate business with foreign currencies.

 Medical Care
- University clinic: on the first floor of Building 5 in Hongkou Campus. Student ID is required for medical care.
- Off-campus medical care: it is recommended that students go to the International Health Center of Shanghai No. 1 People’s Hospital (585 Jiulong Road; 6324-0090 ext. 2101). If students have oversea medical insurance, it should be brought there. It is about 15 minutes by taxi. The Center is equipped with advanced medical facilities and its doctors speak foreign languages. If the student can speak fluent Chinese, he can also go to such hospitals nearby campus as Quyang Hospital, 333 Yutian Road, Jiangong Hospital, 2199 Zhongshanbeier Road, and Yueyang Hospital, 110 Ganhe Road.
- As a full-scholarship student, he will get a medical card from the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA). With this medical card, he will get free medical care at the university clinic. If necessary, he will be referred to a doctor outside school. The receipt of the medical fee under the program of Chinese Medical Insurance can be brought back to OISA to get a refund. The International Health Center is not available without permission beforehand, or the treatment may be on the student’s own expenses.

 Transportation
- Metro: Metro Line 3 and 8 pass by SISU’s Hongkou Campus. The two nearest stations are Chifeng Road Station and Hongkou Football Stadium Station. Line 8 reaches the People’s Square and Nanjing Road (E). SISU’s Hongkou Campus and Songjiang Campus are connected by Line 3 and Line 9. The transit station of the two lines is Yishan Road Station.
- Bus: Bus 18, 537 and 933 reach the People’s Square, Nanjing Road (E) and Nanjing Road (W).
- Taxi: Taxi is cheap and convenient. The first 3 kilometers costs 11 RMB and then 2.2 RMB for the following driving. It shall rise by 30% from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
- Bicycle: the most convenient transportation.

 Security
Student shall protect himself.
1. It’s noted by OISA that students shouldn’t get drunk.
2. If unwell, student shall see a doctor in time. If he doesn’t know how to see a doctor, an advice can be got from his relative or friends or teachers.
3. A contact information card for emergency shall be always brought. The contact person may be the student’s grantee in China or teacher, friend or relative in Shanghai.
4. Dormitory room shall be always locked. Valuables shall be sure to be locked up. If student goes out, his money, passport and/or residence permit shall be kept in a safe place.  Never carry large amounts of cashes.
5. When going out, student shall keep contact with his family or classmates.
6. When travelling, student shouldn’t go out at night or alone. In case of emergency, police are available for help by calling 110.
7. Traffic regulations shall be abided by. Pay much attention to traffic safety.
